Fellow Philadelphians: Jacqueline of Burgundy Whispers

Meet Jacqueline of Burgundy Whispers. A couple of weeks ago we met up for the first time at Higher Grounds Cafe in Northern Liberties. I had been admiring Jacqueline's style from afar via her blog, and we had the chance to chat for a little bit about Philadelphia, style, and thrifting.
You are a graphic artist. Tell me about your inspiration and process!
Growing up, I always knew that I wanted to be a visual artist, I was always drawing sketches and always had a sketchbook. I knew I wanted to follow my passion, my experience at University of the Arts was great and taught me how to fall even more in love with the arts. We live in a world where people want to cut the arts and/ or discourage you from it. I don't want to be a part of that group. Illustration is amazing, to convey something with a conceptual design and see it come to life is one of the best feelings. I'm also a typography nerd, I love playing with type, it's the graphic designer in me!
Where do you shop?
I like to shop at different places, it allows for variety in the closet and the ability to find gems! I'll admit i'm more of an online shopper, there's just more choices and yes, I am one of those shoppers with a list of items. That way I don't go over budget! Some of the places I like to shop at are J.Crew, Forever21, Zara, Urban Outfitters, Asos.com, Nastygal.com, and various thrift stores in Philadelphia. Also, most of my closet, about 45%, is from my mother's own closet. My mother loved fashion as much as I do!

What are your favorite thrift shops?
Retrospect on South Street, Aids Thrift by Penn's Landing, Second Time Around, and Buffalo Exchange in Center City

What are you currently reading?
I have always loved to read science fiction novels and thrillers. It's just something about the suspense that draws me in. I also love me some classic literature. I'm currently reading 1984, even though I've read it two times before! Stephen King, John Saul, J.R. Tolkien, Hemingway. Besides the fiction, I also read a lot of self help books, like how to speak Portuguese, how to write better, blogging tips. I'm also an avid news reader, I like know what's going on in the world!

What do you hope to accomplish?
As for the future, One of my major goals is to be an amazing creative director and stylist for a big fashion house like Jenna Lyons, who I consider my muse! I just love being around a group of creative and artistic minded people. My love for J.Crew grew from my parents! Another goal would be to have my illustrations/ designs be a part of a big ad campaign, like Marcos Chin did for Lava Life.
