Style Files: My First Handmade Skirt!

I finally finally finished that skirt I've been working on all summer and I took it out for a spin the other day. For a good sewer it would have taken one afternoon, but of course I just had to complicate things with my aversion to learning the easy way and reading manuals. :D I hope you like it!

I think one of my favorite things about the skirt is the pockets. We actually sewed them on a little lopsided (which you can see in the pictures) but I'm still proud of this little skirt : ) However, next time I'll make sure to get an easier pattern.

In hairy news....if you've been following my twitter then you know that I've been debating about going lighter or darker with the hair color.  For a while there I was definitely set on dying it myself a lighter shade. However after talking to some professionals (and the seeing the sad state that my hair was in) they highly didn't recommend it since my hair is so fragile right now with all the treatments its been through.  So I've decided to take the darker route this time. Brunette is best in winter anyways, right? Oh so I hear...
By the way, I thought you might enjoy these last few outtakes with my dog Bitsy. We were having SUCH a hard time keeping her out of the photographs. I finally positioned myself in a way I thought she couldn't get in them, but of course she climbs up the stairs and comes out on the ledge to get her moment in the spotlight :D  She even stopped to smell the roses on my shirt! A good dog, she is :)
