EXHIBIT: Justin-Julius Santos

I've been hearing the murmors of one Justin-Julius Santos for quite some time. Word gets around quickly in Philly and this is one photographer I wanted to check out. An exhibit at Curated Goods in Northern Liberties was showcasing some of his latest work in fashion and I was eager to check it out.
"Originally shot in Paris and New York, the works featured in the exhibition focus on reinventing fashion through new depictions of old subjects. From a tale of urban beauty to an avant-garde version of the Addams Family, each piece offers a unique take on the traditional. Santos—a self-taught photographer who draws inspiration from fashion, music, film, and the drama of everyday life—has previously shown his work in Paris, Los Angeles, and New York. This will be his first major exhibition in Philadelphia."
The store, Curated Goods was also having a 15% off sale which was EXTREMELY hard to resist. You would have been SO proud of me. I almost took home every sequin top in sight. Almost!!
This is Sophie, Editor of Stardust Magazine (pictured right) which is launching it's premier issue next month. We got to chatting about photography (she's an accomplish photographer as well) and she inspired me with telling the tale of launching a magazine in just under three months. I can't WAIT to get my hands on the first issue!
On the left is a bag I MUST have, and on the right is Justin's latest book called "Photographing Strangers".  The photographs are from his travels in Paris and the people he meets.

It's events like these that make me love Philadelphia. Keeping it low key, but creative is the way to go. Chatting over wine and munching on chips is the perfect combo for a night with friends. Philly is a small town in a big city and it's nice to be able to run into friends at different events going each week.
