Ginger Simple Syrup

Simple syrups are essential to any home bar cart. They’re used in a variety of cocktails, from mojitos to daiquiris. It’s the easiest way to sweeten a cocktail and can also add an extra layer of flavor when infused with herbs, fruits, or there aromatics.

I’ve made this ginger simple syrup once before and basically chugged the whole thing. Not only do I mix it into cocktails, I also add a dash to my morning coffee for extra sugar and spice!

Ingredients
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
2 inches of raw ginger

Directions: Bring the water and sugar to a boil until the sugar completely dissolves. Remove from heat and add in the ginger. Cover and let this simmer for 10 minutes. Take out the raw ginger and store in a air tight glass jar for up to 2 months.

Here’s a super simple cocktail to make once your syrup has finished cooling!

Ingredients
1 oz dark rum
1 oz fresh lemon juice
1 oz ginger simple syrup
Top with club soda
