Demoltion of the Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ

The other day while walking around in Fishtown, AJ noticed that demolition had begun on the Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ on the corner of Belgrade and Marlborough. We wanted to check it out before it was completely gone, so we headed over today despite the ice and the snow. What we saw was pretty amazing.

This 163 church traces is origins to a revival from the year 1825. It's being demolished and replaced with 5 new townhouses. It's sad to see that a structure that's been a neighborhood fixtures for over 150 years years will come down since it was not deemed historic enough. You can read more about the issue here.

If you can, try and head over this week before the demolition is complete.
