Grapefruit & Ginger Cocktail

This winter in Philadelphia has hit some record low temperatures. While I'm definitely a cold weather gal at heart, I'm looking forward to longer days, warm afternoons in the park and citrusy cocktails!

My favorite kind of cocktails are seasonal cocktails. Eating and drinking with the seasons guarantee variety in tastes and textures which switches things up a bit.

Depending on where the grapefruit is from, peak season can range from January to June (Arizona and California) or October to June (Florida and Texas). For this recipe I used a ruby red grapefruit, homemade ginger simple syrup (seriously can't get enough of this stuff), gin and sparkling wine. Enjoy!

1 oz Gin
1 oz Freshly Squeezed Grapefruit Juice
1 oz Ginger Simple Syrup
3 oz Prosecco (or sparkling wine)
Grapefruit wedge to garnish

Pour gin, grapefruit juice and simple syrup into a glass filled with ice. Top with sparkling wine. Garnish with a grapefruit wedge.
